China Trip - December 26, 2004 (Boxing Day)

Today Grammy and Papa (Rick's mom and step dad) finally got to meet Elisa.  Because Grammy is the director of the church choir at St. Zachary Church in Des Plaines, IL, she had to stay home to do Christmas Eve Midnight Mass and Christmas Day Masses.  But early on the 26th, she and Papa drove through a snow storm to come to Windsor, arriving by noon.  Do you think Grammy is happy?

Elisa took to Grammy instantly, and played a game all day where she would take off Grammy's glasses, then Grammy would make a sad face and Elisa would imitate the sad face.  Then Grammy would put the glasses back on and make a happy face, and Elisa would imitate the happy face.  Elisa also did an amazing imitation of Grammy's cough and sneeze, to the delight of the "crowd" -- so we all did fake sneezes all day.

As Papa pointed out, this was "Daddy Heaven".

Christmas carols at the piano.

Elisa also felt comfortable with Papa, even though Papa had the distinct disadvantage of being a man.  But he had the advantage of having an interesting mustache!

We assembled a walker toy, and Elisa intuitively knew what to do with it.

Today was the first day that Elisa's walking skills progressed to the point where walking was the most efficient means of getting across the room, rather than just being a game played for its own sake.  She does particularly well on the hardwood floors and with the special walking shoes from Rochelle and Bill.  Elisa was not only walking good, but looking good too in the and excellent Christmas tree sweater from Karen and Gigi.  (It's the best tree we have this year!).

Alfie, Chelsey and Frank also came for a visit to meet Elisa, and Alfie's glasses became part of the "steal the glasses" game.

Annie and Barb also came over for a visit and to bring gifts.  As usual, Elisa found the wrapping paper and the bows equally as interesting as the gifts inside.

A smiley baby spending the whole day playing at home!

Elisa stealing the gift cards off the gifts.  How will we know which one goes to which person?
